Energy Savings Performance Contracting
ESPC - introduction
Energy Savings Performance Contracting was driven, in its infancy,
by the combined ideals of Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan:
energy efficiency (and freedom from foreign oil) coupled with fiscal responsibility.
ESPC has matured with support from every administration since then.
In the U.S. today there are a handful of large ESCOs (Energy Service Companies)
that have distinguished histories--spanning decades, and in some cases centuries--which demonstrate
the expertise, achievement, resources, and long-term stability necessary for ESPC.
There are a host of proven smaller companies operating at regional levels as well.
There is a growing pool of state energy officials who are equipped to facilitate the process
and help ensure it's done right.
And there is one serious question that must be asked of facility directors and local leaders everywhere:
"Should you be pursuing ESPC yourself?"
